New work at last! I feel as though my world has been turned upside down lately, an emotional minefield on all sides; so it has been nice today to just have a bit of a quiet time, cooking some comfort food and looking forward to working on this commission later tonight.
A while ago I sold a piece called “Curlew” to The Golden Lion and since they are adding some extra B&B rooms I was asked if I would do a Lapwing as well. Then I was looking for the quote from Wuthering Heights, (where Heathcliffe breaks the nest full of eggs) but luckily I found a much more appropriate poem, “Locksley Hall” by Tennyson, which mentions both Lapwings and Curlews. Every year I look out for the Curlew’s return in March and the dive bombing Lapwings protecting their moorland nests, to signal the end of Winter.
I really like the label on this piece of old blanket and now that the printing’s done I’m looking forward to getting on with some embroidery while listening to something good on the radio…( actually to be honest I’m having a bit of a wobble because its Saturday and my daughter’s getting ready to go out so I’m wishing I was going out clubbing too…embroidery and Radio4 all sounds a little bit too civilized for a Saturday night, I’ll be getting a blue rinse and joining the WI next! Help!!!)
No, I must behave. Besides I have paper owls to make after seeing these printable pdf files on 3Eyedbear. So clever and so kind to give them away free so I can make a whole row of them to sit on my bed head like “Mr Magnolia“!
Well, perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to have a small glass of rum… I hope you are all having a good weekend whether you’re misbehaving or acting your age! x
